Dr. Yan Liu, DDS
Dr. Yan Liu, DDS has over 30 years of demonstrated experience ranging from oral hygiene to complex dental procedures such as implants, Invisalign, cosmetic full mouth restoration, bone graft, root canal, denture, bridge, gum treatment, etc. He has comprehensive knowledge of the connection between overall health issues and oral health.
In his family practice, Dr. Liu takes the time to know each patient well so he can provide individual attention and support. He is extremely hands on, friendly, gentle, and detail-oriented with both adults and children. Dr. Liu takes ample time with each patient to explain what he is doing and why. Because of this, many patients who are afraid of dental treatments feel confident and comfortable around him.
Dr. Liu is one of the few general dentists who can diagnose and perform a wide range of dental procedures instead of referring to specialists. This practice can become expensive, confusing, and time consuming for patients who want to receive timely care without being bounced from provider to provider. Many of Dr. Liu's patients have been with him for over 10 years because of his unique ability to treat their full range of needs.
Education and Training
Dr. Liu received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the School of Dentistry at New York University. He has been practicing dentistry for more than 30 years in various settings such as hospitals, group practice, and private dental offices. He was an oral surgeon for ten years and now practices as a general dentist. He is fluent in English and Mandarin.
Hobbies and Interests
Dr. Liu has been a long-time resident of New Jersey for over 20 years. In his free time, he likes to barbeque for his family, walk his dog, and play the saxophone.
Our Office
NJ Dental is conveniently located on the first floor in the heart of northern New Jersey. The office is newly renovated with a large parking lot, multiple dental chairs/treatment rooms all equipped with nitrous oxide (laughing gas), spacious waiting room, and bathroom.
Our Staff

When you contact us, Sara, our insurance expert, not only verifies and communicates with your health plan, but also advocates on your behalf so you get the best financial outcome. This attention to detail and deep expertise in navigating insurance helps our patients feel relaxed knowing that we are working behind-the-scenes to make sure there are no surprises downstream.
Easy and Convenient Scheduling: We accommodate your work schedule and offer after work (until 7PM) and Saturday slots usually within the same week for new and existing patients. When you call, you will not be put on a waitlist. Emergencies are also handled quickly and can be accommodated outside of regular office hours.
Quick Responses: For some patients, it is almost impossible to get a hold of their dental providers during and after office hours. Our patients can contact a staff member and/or their dentist (if needed) almost immediately, especially during emergencies. We are available by call, text, and email and respond usually immediately but no more than 12 hours.
COVID-19 Precautions
COVID safety procedures are required for all patients and staff. Our standard practice is to wipe down and sterilize all equipment after every patient. Patients will be checked for symptoms when confirming appointments and masks are required in the office.
